How many dress sizes should I expect to go up?

I'd like to get a head start on maternity shopping. What size were you before, and what size maternity clothes did you have to buy? Dress/pants/shirt sizes.

You buy whatever size you were pre-pregnancy in maternity sizes.

I bought my same size in maternity clothing. I wear a large in real life and bought size large maternity tops. I wear size 14 jeans and fit into size large maternity pants. You're going to need to try things on.

You buy the same size maternity as you are in regular clothes. For me, that's a small/medium. It never changed throughout my last pregnancy and I didn't start wearing maternity clothes until around 25 weeks.

Agree...same size :-) I just ordered some stuff and luckily it all fit! I forget how the sizing goes for bras though...for some reason I remember having to go up a size with my other pregnancies.

I just bought lits of stretchy pants and sweats. I ain't buying no expensive mat wear.

I started in medium maternity and was in large by the end, and I only gained 27lbs. I think it didn't help that I went from winter clothes which are looser by nature to summer clothes which are more fitted. You really have no idea how your body will react. I have friends that didn't fit in their maternity clothes from baby #1 during their second pregnancy. I wouldn't buy ahead too much.

Same size. Everything is stretchy and the shirts are cut longer.

Don't buy today much! I was still able to wear my same clothes the entire pregnancy. Only think I bought is an extender for my jeans I forgot what it's called.

I bought a pair of jeans in the same size I wear and also a pair of shorts and maternity leggings. I don't need them now but they are super comfy so I figure may as well get them and be comfortable. I won't buy maternity shirts until later. I have a few from my last pregnancy but I was pregnant in the winter mostly so I'm hoping I won't have to get many summer shirts.
